A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has recently been signed between Sustainable Agriculture Foundation Bangladesh (SAF Bangladesh) and Naba Crop Care Limited and Inna Agrotech Limited, subsidiaries of Nabil Group of Industries (NGI), to promote inclusive, climate-resilient, and market-oriented agricultural value chains for smallholder farmers.
On behalf of Nabil Group, Israat Jahan, Director of Nabil Group and Chairman of Inna Agrotech, signed the agreement, while Farhad Jamil, Executive Director of SAF Bangladesh, signed on behalf of SAF.
This partnership has been established under the “Introducing Water Efficient Technologies in the Barind Track” project, implemented with support from the 2030 Water Resources Group and sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation.
The primary objective of the agreement is to strengthen market linkages, promote climate-smart and water-efficient agricultural technologies, and establish sustainable commercial connections for potato and high-value crop farmers through SAF Bangladesh’s innovative Farmers Hub model.
Speaking at the event, Aminul Islam, Managing Director and CEO of NGI, said that Nabil Group’s diversified business operations have created significant opportunities to work jointly with SAF Bangladesh through the Farmers Hub platform, which will play an important role in expanding agribusiness and market access.
Israat Jahan, Chairman of Inna Agrotech, stated that this joint initiative between SAF Bangladesh and NGI will create valuable opportunities for farmers and agricultural businesses.
Farhad Jamil, Executive Director of SAF Bangladesh, said that SAF Bangladesh is working toward agricultural development, particularly to address farmers’ limitations in technical knowledge and lack of access to quality agricultural inputs. He added that the Farmers Hub model was established to ensure fair pricing for farmers and develop an organized marketing system, enabling private sector companies to directly procure agricultural products from organized farmer groups.
Others present at the event on behalf of SAF Bangladesh included Ashraful Islam Pradhan, Furhanul Haque, and Shahidul Islam. Representing NGI were Syed Shahidul Alam, Md. Akhtaruzzaman, and KBD Ershadul Alam, among others.
