Rajshahi-based Nabil Group of Industries has secured a leading position in the country’s consumer goods market. The group is the largest importer of wheat, lentils, yellow peas, and soybean meal, among other products.
According to reports, the total value of products imported by Nabil Group in the fiscal year 2023-24 stood at $1.21 billion. The company is now a proud member of the prestigious billion-dollar club. Officials and distributors of Nabil Group expressed their excitement over this achievement, highlighting the group’s significant contributions to the supply and processing of food and agricultural products in Bangladesh for over a decade.
The enthusiasm was evident yesterday at the Partners’ Meet 2024, held at Nabil Industrial Park in Paba, Rajshahi, where thousands of dealers and distributors participated.
During the day-long event, the Managing Director and CEO of Nabil Group of Industries, Agriculturist Md. Aminul Islam, stated that the group is the largest importer of wheat, lentils, yellow peas, and soybean meal. In the first eight months of this year alone, Nabil Group accounted for 24.47% of the country’s total wheat imports, 49.35% of lentils, and 56.83% of yellow peas.
The event was attended by high-ranking government officials, senior bank executives, journalists, professionals from various fields, and other distinguished guests.
Speaking at the event, CEO Md. Aminul Islam emphasized Nabil Group’s unwavering commitment to ethics and quality. Beyond imports, the group plays a significant role in the market by producing certain consumer goods, particularly rice, where it has become one of the leading companies in Bangladesh. Currently, Nabil Group is the second-largest rice producer in the country, with a daily production capacity of 1,364 tons.
The CEO further mentioned that Nabil Group is continuously establishing new industries to expand the agro-industrial sector, promote industrialization, and create employment opportunities.
Since its inception in 2006, Nabil Group has grown to become a key member of the billion-dollar club. The Managing Director credited this success to the dedication of the company’s employees and dealers. He added that, along with ensuring a smooth supply chain through the adequate import of consumer goods, the group is actively contributing to the nation’s food security by locally producing essential products such as eggs, poultry items, rice, and other daily necessities.
