To eradicate poverty and promote human development, the second installment of the Zakat Fund has been distributed under the Livelihood Development Center Paba Project. The project is being implemented by the Center for Zakat Management (CZM) with the support of Nabil Group of Industries.
The fund distribution ceremony took place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 4, at the mosque of Nabil Group of Industries in Bherapara, Paba.
Since its establishment, CZM has implemented 71 Livelihood Development Projects / Quality of Life Improvement Programs, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of underprivileged communities. As part of this initiative, the second phase of the Livelihood Development Center Paba Project distributed Tk 4,685,000 in Zakat funds among 398 deserving families through a simple handover ceremony.
The program was conducted by Md. Mizanur Rahman, North-West Regional Manager of CZM.
The event began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome speech from Md. Abdul Wadud, Program Manager of the Livelihood Paba Project.
Afterward, four project members shared their personal experiences and reflections. Following their speeches, Enamul Haque, Assistant General Manager of the Livelihood Division of CZM, discussed the overall activities and impact of the Livelihood Paba Project.
Colonel (Retd.) Zakaria Hossain, Head of Corporate Affairs of CZM, emphasized the importance of CZM’s livelihood initiatives and elaborated on the institution’s broader activities. He mentioned that since 2008, CZM has provided various forms of support to nearly 1.7 million people across the country.
The event’s special guest was Agriculturist Md. Aminul Islam, Managing Director and CEO of Nabil Group of Industries, while the program was presided over by Jahan Boksh Mondol, Chairman of Nabil Group of Industries.
In his speech, the chairman said, “We are working for your well-being. Our support goes beyond zakat distribution — we also assist imams of mosques, students of madrasas, provide healthcare, help arrange marriages for children from poor families, and create employment opportunities to make women self-reliant.”
The guests highly praised the activities of CZM and the Livelihood Paba Project, appreciating the success stories shared by the members. The special guest, Agriculturist Md. Aminul Islam, expressed deep satisfaction after hearing the inspiring stories of the beneficiaries.
At the conclusion of the event, cheques from the second phase of the Zakat Fund were handed over to the leaders of 14 groups.
