Star News Officially Begins Broadcast as the Country’s Tenth News-Based Television Channel

Star News has officially commenced its broadcast as the country’s tenth news-based television channel. The formal inauguration was held on Tuesday (January 20) at 7:00 PM through a cake-cutting ceremony at the Nabil Group of Industries (NGI) building located in the Tejgaon Industrial Area.

The channel has launched its full-scale broadcast with the aim of setting a new benchmark in television journalism by delivering objective, accurate, and timely news.

Present at the event were Chairman of Nabil Group Md. Jahan Box Mondol, Vice Chairman Israt Jahan, Managing Director Md. Aminul Islam, and the Managing Director’s mother.

Also attending as guests were City Bank Chairman Hossain Khaled, Pubali Bank Managing Director Mohammad Ali, Islami Bank Managing Director Omar Faruk Khan, and Deputy Managing Director Kamal Uddin Jasim.

Speaking at the ceremony, Star News Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mokhchhedul Kamal stated that Star News Television has been equipped with a state-of-the-art “Full Studio Automation” system developed by Aveco, one of the world’s leading broadcast technology companies. With this technology, Star News is set to become the first news media organization in Bangladesh—and across Asia—to operate fully under a complete automation system.

He further explained that through this full station automation system, every stage of news operations—including news gathering, verification, editing, and broadcasting—has been integrated into an automated process. As a result, Star News will be able to deliver news more quickly, accurately, and objectively.

Senior journalist Waliur Rahman Miraj has been appointed as the Head of News of the channel. He expressed optimism that “through a combination of modern thinking, technology-driven broadcasting systems, and audience-centric content, Star News will be able to establish a strong position in the country’s media landscape within a short time.”

He also added that “by practicing truthful and responsible journalism, Star News will earn viewers’ trust and establish itself as a reliable media outlet committed to democracy, transparency, and public interest.”

According to officials, Star News Television has ensured maximum utilization of modern technology in its broadcast operations. Special emphasis has been placed on delivering engaging and information-rich news through advanced studios, digital news production systems, enhanced graphics, and high-quality visual presentation. Additionally, an innovative newsroom management system has been developed to enable efficient news collection, verification, and rapid broadcasting.

Alongside regular news bulletins, the channel will feature analytical programs on contemporary issues, talk shows, special reports, and investigative journalism. Star News will cover major national and international events, including politics, economy, society, sports, entertainment, and technology. The channel authorities have already expressed their commitment to presenting reliable news across all sectors.
